MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS AND AUTOMATION LABORATORY

We are building a state-of-the-art facility for teaching and research in advanced manufacturing, which incorporates effective and efficient integration and synthesis of automation technologies, human resources, and decision-making models for design, planning, scheduling, and control of production of goods and delivery of services.

Our mission started in August 2006…  The  Manufacturing Systems and Automation (MSA) laboratory provides an excellent foundation for undergraduate and graduate level courses and theses in manufacturing.  We also thrive to provide industry with a low-cost, integrative test-bed environment and a smart team, who speaks their language and acts fast to respond to their needs in a timely manner.

MSA provides a strong educational foundation in the areas of manufacturing processes,   computer aided design and manufacturing, quality assurance and control, process planning, scheduling, shop floor control, automation in manufacturing, digital manufacturing, flexible manufacturing systems, and network-centric manufacturing systems.

Our areas of expertise and research interests include primarily real-time control, shop floor control, production data collection and performance monitoring.  Our basic research tools include simulation packages and hardware-based prototypes.
