Away from the confines of the classroom and the hush-hush of the library is a boisterous and rowdy campus life that invites you to enjoy a world of new friendships, camaraderie and laughter.

You will discover that UTSA is lke a city—one that never sleeps with the constant activities of sports, music, arts, dining, special events and recreation—happening all around you. We're certain you will stay on course to achieve your goals; however keep in mind that this is your campus and this is your UTSA, and we wouldn't want you to miss out on all the fun and excitement that campus life has to offer.

Living on campus is a great opportunity to become fully engaged with the campus community. In addition to the convenience of having a furnished residence just a short walk away from class, students who live on campus typically earn better grades, are more likely to graduate on time and are more satisfied with their overall college experience.

You can live on or off campus. If you choose to live on-site, the university offers a variety of living facilities and comfortable apartments. Because space is limited, an application is required and is available at utsa.edu/housing. As soon as you receive your UTSA ID, use it to access tha application once it is available from the Housing website.

It's no secret that college students need plenty of nourishment to keep their active bodies and brains functioning at peak performance. So no matter where you go on campus—if you're in the mood for an on-the-go light snack or prefer a sit-down meal with friends—the options are plentiful to satisfy anyone's taste buds.

Involvement

It's easy to get involved. You can join more than 250 organizations including academic clubs, honorary organizations, Greek fraternities and sorities, professional organizations and special interest groups. Student leaders are integral to the planning of many activities on campus. These include Homecoming and campus festivals such as Fiesta UTSA, Best Fest, Party on the Paseo and Rowdy Wing Fling.

The Office of Student Activities (located at the Main Campus and Downtown Campus) provides the university's diverse student population with programs and services that include leadership development, cultural events, campus-wide entertainment events, community service opportunities and annual student recognition programs.

Known as the UC, the University Center offers a place for recreation and relaxation. You can play a game of pool or watch a pro football game on six flatscreen TVs at The Roost. The UC also hosts monthly programs such as Coffee Houses, Roadrunner Late Nights and Open Mic Nights. If you're on a budget, UC Cinema Nights features screenings of recently released movies with free popcorn.

The UC also houses the Campus Technology Store and the UTSA Bookstore, where in addition to selling textbooks, you can purchase UTSA-themed apparel. And right around the corner is the UPS Store, Rios Golden Cut Salon, Frost Bank, Ticketmaster and mini-convenience store. So when you're in the mood to chill and hange out with friends—and grab a bite to eat while you're there—head over to the University Center where there's never a dull moment.

UTSA's Rec Center is one of the largest student recreation centers in Texas and offers a variety of recreational and leisure opportunities. With over 300,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space to explore, you can enjoy a little rest and diversion from your studeis by checking out our rock-climbing wall, cooking classes and exercise classes.

Intramural Sports

The Intramural Sports program provides over 36 sports. Participation is open to players of all skill levels at no charge. Campus Rec even has a free agent list and will be happy to place individuals on teams. Softball, indoor soccer, flag football and water volleyball are just a few of your many choices.

Club Sports

For the student looking for a little more competition and the opportunity to compete with and travel to other universities around the nation then Club Sports is for you. Campus Rec has over 20 different clubs—cycling, fencing karate and ultimate Frisbee to name a few.

Fitness

If you want to tighten and tone, or shed some unwanted pounds, Campus Rec houses two different weight rooms and four group exercise studios. Massage therapy and personal training are a great addition to the Fitness and Wellness program. Tours and specialized sessions are offered regularly by trained staff. Check online for updated schedules.

Outdoor Pursuits

The Outdoor Pursuits program offers great trips, such as surfing, backpacking and caving, for various kill levels around the region and country. Outdoor Pursuits also offers a free equipment-lending program, including kayaks, canoes and mountain bikes.

Aquatics

Soak in some sun at the Aquatices Center, which features a three-lane lap ool, lazy river with fountain, two hot spas, a recrational pool, two sand volleyball courts, an outdoor basketball court and an island for lounging.

Wellness

Keeping healthy in both mind and body is vital to your ability to complete your education. The Campus Rec offers a number of programs to help alleviate stress, as well as nutrition assesments, fitness assessments, tips for healthy eating habits and health screenings.
