Basic Scholarship Application Requirements

(PLEASE READ CAREFULLY)

  • The 2019-2020 COE Scholarship Application is open until December 1, 2018
  • Before applying, review the eligibility requirements to ensure you qualify for the scholarship.
  • Upload all required documents (essays, recommendations, etc.) with your application.
  • Must agree to attend donor functions as requested.
  • Unless otherwise stated – your application must be submitted online by the deadline.
  • Scholarship amount and availability may vary dependent upon funding.

COE Scholarship Application

DAVID OLVER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Gulf Coast Power Associate

AWARD: up to $2,500

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering;
  • Undergraduate students who have completed 30 or more semester credit hours, or a master’s student;
  • A United States citizen or permanent resident;
  • Enrolled full-time (12 hours for undergraduate or 9 hours for graduate student);
  • Able to attend a GCPA event to be recognized for their achievements.

SAN ANTONIO API CHAPTER, INC. ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD:  up to $2,000

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Full-time student actively pursuing a degree in Engineering or Oil related at UTSA
  • Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum of 30 semester credit hours
  • Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0)

REQUIRED DOCUMENT:

DIAMOND SHAMROCK LEGACY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP for the COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

AWARD:  up to $2,000

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled on a full-time basis (undergraduate minimum 12 hours; graduate minimum of 9 hours) actively pursuing an engineering degree in the College of Engineering at The University of Texas at San Antonio.
  • Undergraduate applicants must have completed 30 or more semester hours and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 GPA scale.
  • Graduate applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 GPA scale.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  2. One-page document stating accomplishments and career goals

 

SAGI GEOTECHNICAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD:    up to $1,250

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate students actively pursuing a degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering at UTSA
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduates
  • Preference will be given to students who are enrolled in or have completed Geotechnical courses at UTSA

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • College of Engineering General Scholarship Application
  • A one-page summary of academic accomplishments and career goals
  • Entering freshmen must provide high school transcripts

 

TERRACON ENDOWED GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING (GRADUATE STUDENTS)

 AWARD: up to $1,200

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate student with full-time enrollment in UTSA College of Engineering pursuing a graduate level degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0
  • Preference will be given to students who show financial need as identified by the UTSA Office of Financial Aid
  • Scholarship is renewable for second year provided the student awarded maintains a 3.0 grade point average.

LEAD SA / NORTH TEXAS CHAMBER SUSTAINABLE ENERGY RESEARCH INSTITUTE (TSERI) ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD:  up to $1,400

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled on a full-time basis (undergraduate minimum 12 hours; graduate minimum of (6 hours) actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio.
  • Applicants may be incoming freshmen with a minimum 3.0 high school cumulative GPA or UTSA undergraduates with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicants must have an active tie to the Texas Sustainable Energy Research Institute, either through student-employment, research, or volunteering.

AWARD: up to $800

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled on a full-time basis (12 semester credit hours for undergraduate) and (9 semester credit hours for graduate students) pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering at UTSA.
  • Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduate students.
  • The scholarship is not renewable

ANSHUL SHARMA MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD: up to $750

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recipient must be enrolled on a full-time basis actively pursuing a degree at UTSA (minimum of 12 credit hours) as an undergraduate student or (minimum 9 credit hours) as a graduate student
  • Entering freshmen must have an SAT score of at least 960 or an ACT score of at least 20.
  • Current students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  • Entering freshmen must provide high school transcripts

 

DR. AMRATLAL M. PATEL ENGINEERING MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD: up to $700

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Full-time student at UTSA (minimum of 12 credit hours) as an undergraduate student or a full-time basis (minimum of 9 credit hours) as a graduate student.
  • Entering freshmen must have SAT score of at least 1100 or ACT score of at least 24.
  • Recipients must be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering offered by the College of Engineering at UTSA.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.25 for undergraduate students, a minimum GPA of 3.7 and a GRE score (Qualitative + Quantitative) of at least 1150 for graduate students.
  • Renewable for up to 3 years of undergraduate studies or 1 year of graduate studies as long as student maintains full-time status and minimum GPA requirements.  Renewal is dependent upon availability of funds.

JUDY AND JAMES ADAMS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD: up to $700

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled full-time (12 semester credit hours) as an undergraduate student or full-time (9 semester credit hours) as a graduate student pursuing a degree in engineering at UTSA.
  • Demonstrated financial need, as determined by Office of Student Financial Aid (International Students on F-1 visa are not eligible).
  • Must be in good academic standing at UTSA, and must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.

HARNEK S. & MALKIT GILL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING (GRADUATE STUDENTS)

AWARDup to $500

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate students in good academic standing and enrolled full-time at UTSA
  • Majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on 4.0 scale)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Completed College of Engineering General Scholarship Application
  • Special consideration shall be given to any applicant who can show proof of residence of a village in Punjab, India. Proof must come in the form of a letter from a member of the applicant’s village council, or panchaya, who will certify the applicant is a resident of said village.

 

Closed Scholarships

College of Engineering Graduate Student Summer Travel Award

Maximum award amount – $500.00 each. Basic qualifications: Must be current COE Graduate student travels between May 12 through August 31, 2017 Does not receive any travel award from the Graduate School. Computational Solid Mechanics (CSM) Competitive Scholarship

DoN Materials Research Fellowship

Valero Research Scholarship – for MS students only
