A Message from Texas Railroad Commissioner
Elizabeth Ames Jones and
UTSA President Ricardo Romo

Dear UTSA Alum,

We would like to personally invite you to The University of Texas at San Antonio's (UTSA) North American Energy Summit (NAES) scheduled for May 1-2, 2008, in San Antonio, Texas.

Through NAES, we will gather 150 insightful leaders from Canada, Mexico and the United States to discuss a holistic strategy and framework for meeting the energy needs of future generations. The summit will include topics such as enhancing and expanding traditional resources implementing green business practices, influencing conservation through education, exploring alternative energy technologies, and preparing and educating our future energy workforce.

The ideas that arise from NAES will form the foundation for UTSA's new Institute for Conventional, Alternative and Renewable Energy (ICARE), which is core to the University's strategic plan of becoming a premier research university. ICARE will facilitate a consortium where representatives from industry, government and academia will explore new energy strategies, policies, and best practices for South Texas, the region and beyond.

We hope that you set aside time to attend NAES May 1-2. We look forward to working with you and others who share a commitment to finding sensible solutions to the energy challenges of the future.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Ames Jones
Commissioner
Railroad Commission of Texas
Ricardo Romo
President
