Overview: Manufacturing Systems and Automation Laboratory (MSA) is a state-of-the-art facility for teaching, research, and development in advanced manufacturing, which incorporates effective and efficient integration and synthesis of automation technologies, human resources, and decision-making models for design, planning, scheduling, and control of production of goods and delivery of services. MSA provides an excellent foundation with integrated hands-on applications for undergraduate and graduate-level courses and theses in the area of manufacturing in at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).

Test-Bed: The facility also provides industry with a low-cost, integrative test-bed environment in area of automated identification (AutoID/RFID) systems.  The facility allows for further integration of other manufacturing functions, such as computer aided design and manufacturing, quality assurance and statistical process control, process planning and scheduling, shop floor control, and supply chain management.
