Raising the Professional Licensing Bar

On October 19, 2004, the ASCE Board of Direction has adopted Policy Statement 465. This stipulates that in addition to the Bachelors Degree and the practical experience, a candidate will be required to have an additional 30 post-graduate course credits or a Masters degree prior to being eligible for professional licensing.

On September 25, 2006, the NCEES adopted this proposal to become effective January 1, 2015.  Click to see the actual language of the NCEES Model Law.

Please read carefully these new professional licensing requirements.  Practically, all new students entering the CEE program after the fall of 2007 will require additional post-graduate courses or a Masters degree to qualify for professional engineering licensing (i.e., PE).  Talk to your academic advisors to plan your program of studies accordingly.
