Program Faculty
As of June, 2007, there were 21 Core (10 at UTSA; 11 at UTHSCSA) and 18 Associated (8 at UTSA; 10 at UTHSCSA) faculty affiliated with the Biomedical Engineering Program. Faculty were almost equally divided between both campuses [UTSA (18) and UTHSCSA (21)] and at all academic ranks [Instructor through Professor/Chairman/Dean]. Faculty at UTHSCSA were drawn from the Medical School [Medicine/Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Rehabilitative Medicine], Dental School [Community Dentistry, Periodontics, Restorative Dentistry], and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences [Physiology, Radiological Sciences, Research Imaging Center]. Similarly, faculty at UTSA were drawn from both the College of Engineering [Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering] and the College of Sciences [Biology, Chemistry]. The BME Program has a number of outstanding faculty, several of whom are leaders in their respective fields and internationally recognized. As a group, they generated over $80 million during the first 4 years of the Program's existence to support their research endeavors, published over 900 full length manuscripts and abstracts, and filed 30 patent applications.
