Yufang Jin, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Educational Background:
B.S. Zhengzhou University
Ph.D. University of Central Florida

Areas of Research Interest:

My research activities focus on cardiovascular modeling for a mice model with differential equations. The laboratory has developing primary mathematical models to describe the changes in gene expression and protein synthesis during in natural aging process. We focus on the interaction among metalloproteinases and extracellular matrix, especially metalloproteinase-9 and collagen I deposition, and investigate their effects on left ventricle structural changes. Another interesting research we carried out is left ventricular remodeling post myocardial infarction. We investigated the extracellular matrix alteractions 7 days after myocardial infarction, described the related interactive network and developed software packages to simulate the acute inflammatory responses of left ventricle post myocardial infarction.

In addition to these various research endeavors, my research interest also includes nonlinear control and its applications to unmanned aerial and ground vehicle. I also served as an active member of American Heart Association (AHA) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
