I am an Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UTSA. I work on integrated building energy systems, building controls and diagnostics. I teach HVAC design and fundamental of controls. I am also the director of the BPD Lab.

Bio & Interests

Short Biography

I am an Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UTSA since January, 2013. Before, I was a senior research scientist at United Technologies Research Center. I have more than 15 years of experience in energy efficiency of smart buildings and cities, specifically on modeling and control of intelligent buildings, distributed energy resources and buildings-to-grid integration. I have been Principle Investigator of projects from National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, CPS Energy and other private industries.  I have published 1 book, 6 book chapters, and over 50 journal and conference papers.  I am a member of the ASHRAE, IBPSA, and ASME. I received my Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon.
